How to Use a Stock Profit & Loss Calculator

Input Fields (each would be in one of the grid cells):

• Buy Price: Enter the price per share when you purchased the stock
• Sell Price: Enter the price per share when you sold (or plan to sell)
• Quantity: Enter the number of shares you bought/sold
• Buy Commission: Enter any broker fees for buying (optional)
• Sell Commission: Enter any broker fees for selling (optional)

1. Calculation:

• The calculator will automatically compute:
  • Total Cost: (Buy Price × Quantity) + Buy Commission
  • Total Revenue: (Sell Price × Quantity) - Sell Commission
  • Profit/Loss: Total Revenue - Total Cost
  • Return Percentage: (Profit/Loss ÷ Total Cost) × 100

Example Calculation

If you bought 100 shares at $50 with $10 commission and sold at $60 with $10 commission:

• Total Cost = ($50 × 100) + $10 = $5,010
• Total Revenue = ($60 × 100) - $10 = $5,990
• Profit = $5,990 - $5,010 = $980
• Return = ($980/$5,010) × 100 ≈ 19.56%
